How is Sermorelin Used in Research?

Sermorelin is a 29-amino acid synthetic peptide analog of GHRH(1-29), supplied as a lyophilized reference standard for in-vitro receptor-activation assays, structural analysis, and analytical method development. The 29-residue sequence corresponds to the N-terminal fragment of endogenous growth hormone-releasing hormone and is the minimal sequence that retains full binding activity at the GHRH receptor.

At the molecular level, sermorelin is studied as a GHRH-receptor ligand in in-vitro receptor-binding assays conducted in anterior pituitary somatotroph cell-culture systems. Binding activates the Gs-adenylyl cyclase-cAMP-PKA signaling cascade, which is tracked with standard biochemical readouts (cAMP accumulation assays, PKA-substrate phosphorylation panels). Supplied for laboratory characterization only. Not for use in any living organism.

Researchers use sermorelin as a reference compound in analytical method development — HPLC and mass-spectrometry identity assays, purity-profile characterization, and comparability work against newer GHRH analogs. In-vitro receptor-activation assays and structural analysis (circular dichroism, NMR conformational studies) represent the principal laboratory use cases for this research standard.

This product is supplied in a lyophilized form and requires reconstitution prior to laboratory handling. For research and laboratory use only. Not for human or veterinary consumption.

Areas of Study

In-Vitro Receptor-Activation Assays

Used as a GHRH-receptor reference ligand in cAMP accumulation assays on cultured somatotroph cell lines and recombinant GHRH-R expression systems.

Structural Analysis

Characterized by circular dichroism, NMR, and mass spectrometry to profile secondary-structure content and counter-ion composition.

Analytical Method Development

Applied as an identity and purity reference standard in HPLC assay development and comparability testing against newer GHRH analogs.

Receptor-Binding Studies

Employed in competitive binding assays to profile GHRH-R affinity of novel analogs and truncation mutants in cell-culture systems.

Reference Compound Use

Serves as a historical reference GHRH(1-29) standard for comparability and analytical characterization in laboratory workflows.

Third-Party Verified Quality

Every batch of Sermorelinis independently tested by an A2LA-accredited (ISO 17025:2017) third-party laboratory using HPLC-UV/VIS for purity and measured quantity. Each COA carries the lab's signed report and a batch-specific lot number. We publish these results publicly so you can verify exactly what you're getting.
